Getting better and drier as well as less chilly, but windy at times

A change in the weather is expected through the course of the next few days. Starting unsettled and cold with some heavy showers, the weather should begin to settled down at the weekend. This leads to drier conditions next week although with a brisk east wind. Best sunshine in the west and feeling less cold, perhaps even warm by the end of next week.

Sunday 16/4/23
Fronts affecting Ireland and western parts of the UK on Sunday. These bring cloud with them as well as drizzle to many western coasts of Wales, northwest England, western Scotland and Ireland. Misty in these areas too with fog on hills. Drier in the east with some sunny spells at first although cloud is going to be increasing. Highs near 12C in the west, 16C in the sunshine in the east.


Monday 17/4/23
Higher pressure builds east on Monday. Western areas will have broken cloud and some sunny spells but always the risk of some drizzle on coasts here. The east sees the best of the sunshine and it stays dry. Highs at 13C on eastern coasts, more widely 15 to 18C.

Tuesday 18/4/23
High pressure over Scandinavia on Tuesday. Some cloud over eastern coasts. Brighter with the best sunshine in western and northern parts. A breezy day. Highs at 11C on eastern coasts, 15C over western areas and perhaps 17C in northwest Scotland.

Wednesday 19/4/23
High pressure northeast of Scotland on Wednesday. A brisk easterly wind bringing some cloud, most in the east and south. A chance of a a few spots of rain in the far south. The best sunshine in western Scotland and western parts of Wales. Tops at 11 to 15C.

Thursday 20/4/23
The brisk easterly flow continues on Thursday. This brings some cloud to southern and eastern areas of England, the risk of a few showers here too. Brighter in western areas with the best sunshine in western Scotland. Highs at 15 to 17C but always cooler along eastern coasts.

Friday 21/4/23
Lower pressure may be west of Ireland on Friday. This gives some cloud and rain to western Ireland. Other areas are set to be warm and bright with some good spells of sunshine. Highs at 17 to 21C although cooler on eastern coasts.
