Mixed week ahead
Cold start then warmer

Issued: 0900 Sunday 23rd April 2023
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

A mixed week and cold to start, then becoming warmer by next weekend

A cold and mixed start to the week before temperatures gradually recover. Rain for some later in the week before keeping fingers crossed that higher pressure builds in at the weeknd allowing for a warm southerly flow to develop and largely dry conditions.

Wednesday 26/4/23
A cold start to Wednesday for many while a weakened front will bring variable cloud cover and patchy, light rain, mainly to southern and western areas of the UK and across Ireland. A few showers could also affect northern and eastern coasts and hills, however most will stay dry with developing sunny spells. Highs at 12C in the south, 7C in the north.

Thursday 27/4/23
A dry start for most before an Atlantic pressure system moves in on to southwestern areas soon bringing increased cloud cover here and outbreaks of rain, falling heavy for some. The system will track eastwards heading across towards eastern regions later. Meanwhile, largely dry further north though the risk of rain across the far north of Scotland. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Friday 28/4/23
A cloudy and damp start to Friday across southern Ireland, much of England and Wales with showery rain about. This should gradually ease into the afternoon with sunny spells expected to develop and the temperatures building. Largely dry and fine elsewhere. Highs at a cool 8 to 11C in the north and east, 12 to 17C further south and west.

Saturday 29/4/23
High pressure builds in on Saturday. It will be a largely dry day with sunny spells, though likely for variable cloud cover and the risk of a shower or two across northern and western Scotland particularly. Highs at 11 to 17C.

Sunday 30/4/23
Sunday is another largely dry day with sunny spells and feeling warm, though a risk of some persistent rainfall affecting Cornwall as well as counties Kerry and Cork in Ireland keeping it cooler here. Highs at 13 to 18C.

Monday 1/5/23
Monday looks to be a mostly dry day thanks to higher pressure close by. Always a risk of more cloud and some light rain affecting Ireland and southwest England however. Highs at 13 to 18C.
