Drier overall and briefly milder, then some patchy rain later in the week

Becoming drier this week and warmer for a time as higher pressure builds. However, there will be an increase in cloud in the second half of te week with some spots of rain developing. Potentially damp into the weekend ahead of conditions then improving again towards the end of the forecast.

Wednesday 19/4/23
High pressure remains northeast of Scotland on Wednesday. The day is expected to be a cloudier day with a fresh to strong easterly wind affecting many areas. There is a risk of a few spots of rain developing over the hills of Wales, the Midlands and northern England. Probably brighter in the east with sunny spells developing. Fine in northern Scotland. Highs at 12 to 14C for most, but 16C in western Scotland. Feeling chilly in the wind.


Thursday 20/4/23
High pressure north of Scotland on Thursday. A fresh east to northeast flow over all areas. There may be some cloud developing in central England although bright spells, sunny and dry in the west and north. Tops at 18C in sunshine in the west but just 11C on eastern coasts.

Friday 21/4/23
High pressure stays north of Scotland on Friday with a small area of low pressure passing west through northern France. There may be more cloud for much of the southern half of England and Wales, a risk of some patchy rain especially in central and eastern areas. Some cloud too in northeast England. Brighter for western Wales and northern England with good spells of sunshine in Scotland. Tops at 11C on eastern coasts, 13 to 15C in most other areas.

Saturday 22/4/23
Low pressure over England and Wales on Saturday. This brings periods of rain and plenty of cloud. Drier in Scotland and most of Ireland with sunny spells although some patchy rain in eastern Ireland. Highs at 13 to 16C.

Sunday 23/4/23
Low pressure in east of the country on Sunday. There could be more cloud and outbreaks of showers and some rain in central and eastern areas. brighter in the west with sunny spells and dry here. Tops at a cool 9C in Scotland, 14C in southern England.

Monday 24/4/23
Higher pressure building again through Monday, centred over Ireland. Some drizzle may affect western Scotland. Dry for most areas with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells developing. Tops at 12 to 16C.
