Unsettled with rain and showers, a cold few days before temperatures lift

The unsettled weather continues during this week. Low pressure brings rain associated with fronts and low pressure areas, with showers on other days. There is a tendency towards fewer showers next week, although it remains showery. Temperatures becoming cold in the next day or so, before rising slowly into the weekend and next week.

Friday 4/10/19
The remains of the area of low pressure drift through the UK on Friday. A front brings cloud and rain over Ireland and northern England with torrential, thundery showers over southern Wales, central and southern England. Gales may affect western areas at times. Brighter and drier in western Scotland, but some cloud and showers on eastern coasts of Scotland. Highs at 17C in southern England, 10C in northern Scotland and 12 to 14C for most.

Saturday 5/10/19
Rain in western areas on Saturday, this heavy at times over the hills. Eastern parts should be drier with a fair amount of cloud. Breezy in the west too. Brighter in Ireland with sunny spells and showers. A milder day for most with tops of 16 to 18C, but still chilly in western and central Scotland at 11C.
 

Sunday 6/10/19
Low pressure to the east of the UK on Sunday brings showers in the morning. These fade as higher pressure builds and the weather becomes drier and brighter with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 12 to 16C.

 
 
 

Monday 7/10/19
Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Monday. A front gives rain in eastern areas at first, but turning brighter from the west during the day with heavy showers. The showers merging to longer spells of rain in western Scotland and western Ireland at times. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Tuesday 8/10/19
A ridge of higher pressure builds on Tuesday. This should bring a brighter and milder day over much of England and Wales. Heavy showers in western Scotland and western Ireland. Tops near 14 to 17C.

Wednesday 9/10/19
Low pressure remains west of Scotland on Wednesday. This brings a mix of sunshine and showers, some of them heavy and thundery. Eastern areas see fewer showers. Highs at 12 to 17C.
