Staying unsettled with periods of rain and showers, but perhaps improving in the south next week

The unsettled weather will be continuing into this weekend. Low pressure will be bringing cloud and periods of rain and showers, this possibly heavy at times. Into next week pressure will be slowly building bringing drier weather to the south. Lower pressure remains closer to Scotland giving the risk of rain and showers as well as cooler temperatures here.

Sunday 20/10/19
Pressure stays low on Sunday with a north to northeasterly flow affecting much of the British Isles. There may be some mist and fog patches at first, but these clear to leave bright spells for many. Showers will develop over central and northern parts of the country, some of which may be heavy. Cloudy with rain in northern Scotland, and further rain in southern England too. High temperatures at 9 to 13C.

Monday 21/10/19
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build from the southwest on Monday. This brings a drier day with sunny spells, after morning mist and fog patches clear. One or two showers affecting eastern coasts and the Northern Isles. High temperatures at 8 to 13C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 22/10/19
Pressure remains high over most of the UK and Ireland. Morning mist and fog patches clear to leave broken cloud and sunny spells once again. Fronts may bring rain to the far north and west of Scotland as well as western Ireland. Breezy here too. Highs at 8 to 14C.
 

Wednesday 23/10/19
High pressure to the south brings dry weather for some but also some mist and fog patches which could be slow to clear. Fronts in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland give outbreaks of rain, these heaviest in western Scotland. Highs at 9 to 16C.

Thursday 24/10/19
Higher pressure remains over southeastern parts of the country on Thursday. Showers and outbreaks of rain as well as breezier weather in Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland. Mild in the far south, but cooler in the north. Highs at 9 to 15C.

Friday 25/10/19
Friday may see high pressure shifting east introducing a milder southerly flow. Showers and outbreaks of rain to the west, drier and brighter to the east. High temperatures at 12 to 16C.
