Dry in the south
Unsettled Saturday

Friday
A cold and crisp start for many across England and Wales where skies could stay clear overnight in places. More cloud about today generally with showery rain affecting northern and western Scotland as well as showers affecting some western coasts elsewhere. Dry for most though. A few sunny spells across eastern regions as the day develops. Highs of 9 to 12C.

Friday Night
Heavy and persistent rain moves into north and west Scotland overnight, with most other areas staying dry but keeping a fair amount of cloud. This will keep most places relatively mild, with lows of 7 to 10C for most areas.

Saturday
Low pressure brings heavy rain and a strong wind to northern coasts of Ireland and western Scotland through Saturday morning. This will push southeastwards through the morning with spells of rain over most of Scotland, northern England and north Wales by early afternoon, although the rain tending to fragment as it moves southwards. Central and southern England should remain dry for most of the day, although staying reasonably cloudy here. Highs of 9 to 12c across most parts.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure gradually builds in on Sunday. This will bring drier weather for many but also a fair amount of cloud in northern and western Scotland where there will be some patchy rain about. Some showers blowing in across southwest Scotland and northwest England on a north-westerly wind too. Winds still brisk in the north and northeast but comparatively lighter elsewhere. Highs at 8 to 12C.
