Morning Call - August 16, 2018
Rain sweeps east
Showerier, cooler west

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 16th August 2018
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Rain affecting central and southern England, showers and cooler to the north and west

Good morning,

A change in airmass today as instead of air arriving from the tropical Atlantic Ocean it switches to the cooler northern Atlantic regions. This change is marked by a cold front which is tracking eastwards this morning, bringing rain through northern England, the Midlands and southern England. Some heavier bursts of rain, especially in southern and southeastern England later this morning and into this afternoon. Much brighter and cooler to the north and west, although heavy showers following into western Scotland and western Ireland. A wet end to the day in southeast England as the cold front becomes slow moving here,

Breezy and becoming cooler too behind the front, although the winds should ease later this afternoon.
