Tuesday
High pressure to the east maintains a mild southerly airflow across Britain. Foggy or dull for many places in the morning, but sunshine will break through increasingly into the middle of the day across most of England, Wales and eastern Scotland. Further west across Scotland and Ireland, expect thicker cloud, with patchy drizzle in places and brisk winds. After a cool start, temperatures rising to a pleasant 10 to 12C for most, locally 15C to the lee of high ground in Wales.

Tuesday night
Where skies are clear into the evening, it will soon fall cool over central and eastern regions, dipping down below 5C, a touch of frost forming in sheltered low-lying districts. Cloud will tend to thicken from the west on increasing southwesterly winds, allowing temperatures to trend back upward overnight for many west and northern areas. Rain moving across Ireland will be heavy for a time, also pushing into western Scotland. Dawn temperatures 2 to 7C, coolest in east.

Wednesday
A cold front moves eastwards bringing a spell of rain to the north and west. Only small amounts reaching central and southern England by the afternoon, though cloud will thicken. Dry most of the day in the southeast. Brighter skies later for western coastal areas of England and Wales. Further rain returns to western Scotland later. Northern Ireland should see a fairly bright day after rain at first clears. Southwesterly breezes. Up to 13C in the southeast, but only 7C northwest.

Thursday
Low pressure crossing England and Wales in the morning taking periods of rain with it. This rain probably fairly patchy but lasting into the afternoon across southern areas of England, Wales and Ireland. Drier and brighter for Scotland and across northern England in the afternoon. Breezy in the south, lighter winds north. Drizzle in western Ireland throughout the day. Later more persistent rain moves back into western Scotland and Northern Ireland, may become heavy. Highs at 9 to 12C.
