Very wet
Windy southwest

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 3rd October 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Storm Alex continues to bring very wet and windy conditions to much of the UK and Ireland today. Wettest areas are expected to be over western and central England, Wales and eastern Scotland. Perhaps staying drier for western Ireland. Breezy for all with coastal gales to the southwest.

Good Morning,

It's a wet start to the day for many in the UK as fronts extend through eastern Scotland, northern and eastern England and Wales bringing heavy outbreaks of rain here. Locally this will be very heavy for some. A drier start over Ireland with some cloud to the east and isolated showers to the west. Breezy across the region.

Rain temporarily clears away from southeastern parts of England through the afternoon though heavy rain persists over northern and western England, Wales and much of Scotland, spreading into far eastern parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland too. Staying drier over western Ireland though some showers may affect southwestern areas. Staying breezy through the afternoon with the strongest winds to the southwest.

Heavy rain continues for many into Saturday evening affecting much of Scotland, Wales, western England and far eastern parts of the island of Ireland. A new area of rain moves onshore over eastern coastal parts of England too.

Stay safe out there today!

Claire
