A mild and breezy day with rain spreading east, heavy in the west

A dry start to the day across much of Scotland and eastern England although with increasing cloud. Windy with rain over Ireland and further rain in western Wales and Southwest England will quickly spread eastwards through all parts of England and southern Scotland this morning. Gales is across western coast and hills.

This afternoon see some heavy periods of rain across Southwest Scotland and parts of Northwest England. Staying wet across eastern Scotland and eastern England as well. Lots of cloud elsewhere and breezy with a strong south-westerly wind which will touch gale force over western coast. Drizzle and low cloud affecting western and southern coast and hills. More rain in western Ireland where it is also windy.
