Morning Call - December 28, 2022
Severe gales, rain
Drier afternoon

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 28th December 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Wet and windy with severe gales developing, colder Scotland, snow on hills

Heavy rain quickly getting into Wales and England this morning, with some heavy bursts for Northern Ireland too. Becoming drier and brighter in southern Ireland. Dry and chilly for Scotland and the far northeast of England at first. Becoming windy across England and Wales as the rain crosses all areas this morning.

This afternoon sees the rain pushing into central Scotland, turning to sleet and snow on the hills. Rain in central and eastern areas, some of it heavy, but the drier weather, although still with some showers, arriving in western areas during this afternoon, then reaching eastern areas of England by evening. Staying windy for England and Wales. Remaining dry in the far north of Scotland.

Tonight brings the risk of severe gales over western coasts and hills together with some heavy showers. Drier in the east with a scattering of showers.
