Freezing fog patches

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 12th December 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Staying very cold, some freezing fog patches and a few snow showers on coasts

A bitterly cold start to this morning for many, with a widespread frost. Some freezing fog patches in England, Wales and Scotland too, these slowly clearing. Mostly dry with the best of any sunshine in northern England and Scotland. Snow showers affecting northern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern England.

This afternoon sees a further risk of mist and fog patches in central areas. A few snow showers on eastern coasts. Best of any sunshine again through northern England and Scotland perhaps brighter in west Wales too. Cloud increasing in southern England too. It stays very cold with temperatures close to freezing for many all day.

Another widespread frost tonight. Further snow showers in northern Scotland. Increasing cloud in the south, although some clear spells from the Midlands northwards.
