Staying very cold, widespread frost, cloudier south with best sunshine in north

A very cold day ahead again for Tuesday. You will need to be wrapping up warm throughout the day. A widespread and severe frost at first this morning, one or two freezing fog patches. These soon clearing. Best sunshine in northern England and central Scotland. A few snow showers could affect northern Scotland.

This afternoon sees little change. It remains very cold with further frost. Cloudier skies in southern England bringing the chance of some sleet to the far southwest of England and southern Ireland. Drier further north with the best sunshine for northern England and Scotland. Some snow showers for northern and eastern Scotland.

Widespread frost again tonight. Cloudier in the far south of Egland. A few snow showers around western, northern and eastern coasts and hills.
