Sunshine for many

Good morning,

It's a bitterly cold start out there with temperatures well below freezing nationwide. Watch out for frost and ice this morning. The frost will stay in the ground all day out of sunlight as temperatures rise only slowly above freezing.

Many places will be dry, bright and sunny today, with just fragments of cloud. There will be showers of snow and hail around western coasts, chiefly northwest-facing areas of Scotland and Wales.

It will feel bitter if you are in any breeze, with wind chill factors feeling sub-zero. An early return to frost soon after sunset too.

Today's top temperatures will be typically around 3C, locally higher around southwestern coasts.

Have a great day.
Garry
