Issued: 0530hrs Friday 13th January 2023
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Showers and winds easing

Low pressure in the North Sea on Friday as a ridge of high pressure builds into Ireland and western parts of the UK seeing winds ease through the day.

A north-westerly wind will bring showers to northern and western areas while largely dry elsewhere with sunny spells. Rain moves in to western areas later.

Rain spreads across the country overnight with winds strengthening and turning gusty. Rain looking to turn heavy and persistent across parts of Wales, northwest and southwest England through the early hours. Chilly in the north with a frost across parts of Scotland.
