Morning Call - January 16, 2023
Cold, frosty & icy
Many dry & bright

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 16th January 2023
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Cold for all with heavy and frequent snow showers on to north and west Scotland

Monday is cold for all with a widespread severe frost first thing across the north and some frost further south. A few places across central England into Wales may wake to a mix of rain, sleet and possible snow of which will soon fizzle away and clear. Meanwhile any spells of rain across SE England will soon clear.

Otherwise, most places are to see a dry day with lengthy sunny spells, particularly in the east. Always more cloud towards the west where there is a higher risk of wintry showers pushing on to coastal areas. Also, frequent and heavy snow showers continue on to northern Scotland.

Overnight, most will remain dry with clear skies. Snow showers continue on to northern and western areas of Scotland, some through the Irish Sea and on to northern regions of Wales and on to Liverpool and Manchester. Temperatures will drop with an extensive and severe frost expected to develop.
