Unsettled though generally mild. Cooler into next week.

Unsettled as Atlantic low pressure brings frequent bouts of cloud, wind and rain, gales at times too. Generally milder for many though always tending to be cooler in the north with a risk of sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland. Cooler early next week for a time.

Saturday 7/1/23
Wet and windy weather sweeps in from the west on Saturday. Fronts passing east taking heavy periods of rain with them. Brighter, blustery conditions following the rain from the west, some heavy showers on western coasts and hills, perhaps wintry. Highs at 7 to 12C.
 

Sunday 8/1/23
Brighter through Sunday but staying windy. Frequent and heavy showers, over western coasts and hills whilst staying largely dry in the east. There is a risk of hail and thunder as well as a risk of merging to longer spells of rain. The showers falling as snow over the hills of Scotland and northern England. Highs near 6 to 10C.

Monday 9/1/23
Low pressure sits to the north of the country on Monday. Less windy though still breezy and feeling cooler. Many places will be dry though expect some showers in the west, these merging into longer spells of rain across western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Tuesday 10/1/23
A cooler start to Tuesday with some places seeing a slight frost. Largely dry with plenty of sunshine to start before the cloud builds and outbreaks of rain move in from the west, falling heay over western hills. Chilly in the north and east with highs struggling much above 4 to 6C, while milder air moves in across southern and western areas with highs reaching 12 or 13C.

Wednesday 11/1/23
An unsettled and blustery day for most with outbreaks of rain clearing to see frequent, heavy showers in the west. Highs at 7 to 11C.

Thursday 12/1/23
Staying mixed with brisk winds across England and Wales, less so further north. Showery rain affecting many areas though the east tending to be drier. Highs at 7 to 11C.
