Not much rain, plenty of dry weather and some overnight frosts, cool days

High pressure will be drifting in and out of the British Isles this week. Mostly dry weather in much of England and Wales, although some drizzle in the west. Tending to be wetter in the far northwest of Scotland. Cooler in Scotland at timers, with some cooler days elsewhere too.

Wednesday 25/1/23
A weak ridge of high pressure remains over the south of England on Wednesday morning which will allow some early mist and fog patches. A front brings rain across Scotland and northern pats of Ireland in the early morning, reaching northern England and the south and east of Ireland as well as north Wales by midday. The rain turning more showery as it crosses East Anglia, the Midlands and Wales. Brighter, colder weather follows to Scotland, Ireland and northern England with a few wintry showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 6 to 8C.


Thursday 26/1/23
High pressure builds into Ireland on Thursday. A north to northeast flow affects all arreas, a few showers along eastern coasts. Generally bright for many and dry to with temperatures at 5 to 7C.

Friday 27/1/23
Ridge of high pressure over England and Wales on Friday. Some morning mist and a few fog patches at first, these clearing to leave a dry day with sunny spells. More cloud in Scotland and Northern Ireland, a few showers in northwest Scotland. Breezy in northern Scotland too. Highs at 5 to 7C.

Saturday 28/1/23
Some cloud and a few spots of rain in England and Wales early Saturday, clearing to the south. Then turning brighter as the winds become more northwesterly with sunny spells. Scattered showers in northern Scotland. Highs at 5 to 7C.

Sunday 29/1/23
A westerly flow across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England bringing cloud. Some drizzle in northern and western Scotland. Drier and brighter in southern England, cloud breaking with some sunny spells developing. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Monday 30/1/23
Low pressure northeast of Scotland with high pressure southwest of England, A west to northwest wind brings cloud, patchy rain and drizzle in Ireland, Wales, central and southern England, rather misty too. Showers and windy in Scotland, snow on hills. Brighter for northern England. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England.
