Low rainfall, a fairly settled week, although wind and some rain in Scotland

A week of fairly quiet weather. Low rainfall amounts in most areas. There will be some showers or spots of rain in Scotland, these turning wintry over hills of Scotland on some days. Windy in the north at times too but much lighter winds to the south.

Friday 27/1/23
Breezy for northern Scotland on Friday, some rain in the far northwest towards evening. Most areas of the rest of the British Isles should be dry. Always tending to be cloudier to the north a dn west, a few spots of rain over western coasts and hills. The best of any sunshine across southeastern England and East Anglia as well as eastern parts of Ireland. One or two showery spots of rain in northern England later. Highs at 7C in southeast England, 5C in the Midlands, 9C in western Scotland.


Saturday 28/1/23
Some cloud and a few spots of rain in England and Wales early Saturday as a front clears south. Turning brighter as the winds become more northwesterly with sunny spells. Scattered showers in northwest Scotland. Highs at 5 to 7C.

Sunday 29/1/23
A more westerly flow across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England bringing cloud. Some drizzle then rain in northern and western Scotland. Drier and brighter in southern and eastern England, cloud breaking with some sunny spells developing. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Monday 30/1/23
A northwest wind on Monday brings cooler conditions. Some showers in north and east Scotland, these wintry on hills. Drier for other areas with some bright or sunny spells, although always the threat of a shower on western coasts. Gales in Scotland and eastern England at first. Highs at 3 to 6C and feeling cold in the wind.

Tuesday 31/1/23
Fronts being pushing east on Tuesday. These bringing cloud and rain to western Ireland and much of Scotland. Drier elsewhere with the best of any brightness in eastern England. Windy in Ireland and Scotland as well as northern England. Highs at 6 to 9C for most.

Wednesday 1/2/23
Low pressure east of the country on Wednesday. A cool day with the winds turning more northwesterly. Bright with sunny spells, some wintry showers over eastern coasts and hills. Drier and brighter in the west. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 7C in southwest England.
