Most staying dry

High pressure ridges in across much of the country through the next week keeping particularly southern areas dry and settled, though lower pressure moves eastwards to the north of the country bringing more cloud and rain at times to northern and western areas. Some frosty starts expected but generally around average to above average daytime temperatures.

Monday 30/1/23
Some showers in north and east Scotland where there is a brisk wind for a time. Drier for other areas with some bright or sunny spells, although always the threat of a shower on western coasts. Cloud building with the risk of rain moving in to the far northwest of Scotland later. Highs at 6 to 9C.
 

Tuesday 31/1/23
More variable cloud cover expected through Tuesday as a weakening front moves southwards down the country. A breezier day and windy across Scotland, gales in the north and west where there is more cloud and blustery showers, some merging into longer spells of rain. Chilly in the wind across the north though highs will be at a milder 7 to 11C.

Wednesday 1/2/23
Outbreaks of rain and strengthened, blustery winds across Scotland gradually easing through the day here. Windy also for a time through northern England with some rain but again this easing and clearing. Scattered showers on to western coasts and hills elsewhere but mainly dry with sunny spells. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Thursday 2/2/23
A chilly start to Thursday but temperatures soon recover. Outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England pushing into eastern counties of England later while clearing from the west. Dry and fine elsewhere. Highs at a chilly 4 to 6C in the east, 8 to 11C further south and west.

Friday 3/2/23
A largely dry and fine day with sunny spells, best of these across southern and southeastern areas. Highs at a mild 8 to 11C.

Saturday 4/2/23
Perhaps more cloud about on Saturday bringing the risk of some patchy rain across the north and west. Otherwise, largely dry with sunny spells. Highs at 8 to 11C.
