Unsettled with fluctuating temperatures

Mobile weather pattern leading to unsettled weather for us stays the theme over the next week at least. Heavy rain and or showers with strengthened winds for some at times. Generally milder, though brief cooler stints are expected.

Monday 9/1/23
Low pressure sits to the north of the country on Monday and drags across a cooler north-westerly wind flow. Winds will strengthen through the day across the south and west. Many eastern areas will be dry though showers, these merging into longer spells of rain are expected in the west, frequent and heavy on to northern and western coasts and hills. Highs at 6 to 9C.
 

Tuesday 10/1/23
A cooler start to Tuesday with some places seeing a slight frost. Initially it will be largely dry with sunny spells before cloud builds and outbreaks of rain move in from the west. Rain will be persistent and fall heavy for many as it passes across the north. Chilly in the north and northeast with highs struggling much above 4 to 6C, while milder air moves in across southern and western areas with highs reaching 12 or 13C.

Wednesday 11/1/23
An unsettled and blustery day for most. Showers and longer spells of rain across north and west Scotland with gale force winds here. Blustery showers expected across many western areas, some merging into longer spells of rain, Tending to be drier further east. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Thursday 12/1/23
A chilly start to Thursday and mostly dry weather expected with sunny spells though showers in the west will merge into longer spells of rain later as the next Atlantic system moves closer. Highs at 6 to 12C.

Friday 13/1/23
Friday is a changeable day with sunny spells but also showers, some merging into longer spells of rain again mainly in the west. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Saturday 14/1/23
Saturday is a chillier day, perhaps some frost in the north. Largely dry though cloud will build in the west later with rain expected in the west by evening. Highs at 4 to 8C.
