Staying unsettled, gales and heavy rian at times, then turning cooler at the weekend

Unsettled through the rest of this week. Low pressure systems bringing rain, some of it heavy and strong winds. These winds could reach gale force on some days. Tending to become cooler at the weekend and into next week with some wintry showers in the north and west.

Friday 13/1/23
Low pressure drifts into the North Sea on Friday. This brings a cool and windy morning with showers in the north and west. The showers could be wintry over hills of Scotland. Winds tend to ease into the afternoon with some bright or sunny spells developing. Only a few showers in the afternoon in northern areas. Increasing cloud in western Ireland later as fronts encroach from the Atlantic. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 9C in southern England.

Saturday 14/1/23
Low pressure remains in control on Saturday with further fronts expected to pass east. These take cloud and periods of rain with them, most in the morning. Heavy showers and brighter weather then follow to the west, with some heavy, frequent showers in Scotland, turning wintry. Highs at 11C in the south, more widely 5 to 7C.

Sunday 15/1/23
Cooler on Sunday in a northwesterly flow. This brings wintry showers to Scotland as well as to the hills of Wales, northern England and Northern Ireland. Scattered showers elsewhere a few of them wintry, but some sunny spells too. Highs near 4 to 6C.

Monday 16/1/23
Low pressure to the east on Monday. A northwest flow bringing sunny spells and showers, most in the north and west. The showers wintry on hills. Feeling chilly with highs at 4 to 7C.

Tuesday 17/1/23
Low pressure in the east brings a northwesterly flow and a mix of sunshine and showers. Most of the showers will be around coasts and hills. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Wednesday 18/1/23
Low pressure brings another unsettled day with strong winds and rain followed by showers. The showers may be heavy in the west. Highs at 5 to 8C.
