Change for many by the weekend

We lose the cold northerly wind by the weekend with a milder yet cloudier and wet south-westerly moving through across the north and west. Staying chilly and dry with risk of fog in the south and east. Milder for all by midweek.

Sunday 22/1/23
High pressure over south and eastern England keeps things mainly dry but still on the cool side here. A risk of fog too. Southwesterly breezes in the north and west bring mild but damp conditions with low cloud, patchy rain and drizzle for Ireland, western Scotland before moving south through Wales and northern England. Highs 4 to 10C.
 

Monday 23/1/23
Continued fairly high pressure and perhaps quite stagnant conditions in the southeast with a chilly start, plenty of cloud, some lingering fog possible. North and western areas likely to continue damp with a southwesterly airflow, some persistent rainfall expected across western areas. Highs 5 to 11C, coolest if in fog.

Tuesday 24/1/23
High pressure stays nearby, with quiet weather conditions expected. Fog patches and areas of cloud. Some drizzle across far western regions of the UK into east Ireland. Highs 6 to 12C, mildest west and northwest.

Wednesday 25/1/23
Wednesday sees cloud, mist, murk as well as outbreaks of rain move south clearing from the north with drier and brighter weather to follow, though always more cloud and possible drizzle across northern Scotland. Highs 7 to 11C, again staying cool if it stays murky.

Thursday 26/1/23
A cooler start than of late. A largely dry day with best of the sunshine across the north and east. Risk once again of mist and fog through many southern and western areas. Highs at 5 to 9C.

Friday 27/1/23
High pressure remains just to the southwest of Ireland through Friday. Many will remain dry though mist and fog could become a problem for some. Thicker cloud and rain moving in across north and west Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Highs at 5 to 9C.
