Turning bitterly cold with ice, frost and some snow

A cold hit is expected from early this week with the increased risk of some snow for some. Extensive and severe frost as well as ice to develop overnight from Monday. All change again back to a milder flow by the weekend.

Wednesday 18/1/23
Wednesday is cold, frosty and icy again with sunny spells and mostly dry weather though showers down coasts, many will be wintry with northern Scotland seeing frequent and heavy showers. Relatively brief some snow flurries running further too. A brisker wind today will make it feel even colder. Highs struggling again at 1 to 5C. Extensively frosty again overnight.
 

Thursday 19/1/23
Thursday starts cold and for many frosty. Most will be dry with sunny spells for many, though cloud will thicken from the west as an Atlantic system moves in to far western areas by the end of the day, falling as snow at first. Highs at 2 to 6C.

Friday 20/1/23
Friday sees an Atlantic pressure system continue to move eastwards with snow falling initially before transitioning to rain as milder temperatures move through from the west. Rain clearing to drier weather across the north and west. Highs rising to 10 and 11C in the west, though still chilly in the east at 2 to 5C.

Saturday 21/1/23
Saturday is milder for most though still perhaps chilly across SE England and East Anglia. Cloudier skies across northern and western areas where there will be some patchy rain. Drier with the best of any sunshine across central and eastern regions. Highs at a milder 6 to 11C.

Sunday 22/1/23
Sunday will be breezy therefore feeling a tad cooler than it is. Mostly dry though showers on to western coasts and hills. Highs at 8 to 12C.

Monday 23/1/23
With higher pressure building in across the country, Monday looks to be another mostly dry day with sunny spells, though showers in places cannot be completely ruled out. Highs at 7 to 11C.
