Staying generally quiet through the week, plenty of cloud at first with rain and gales in Scotland

The quiet weather continues through this week with high pressure dominating conditions. This brings plenty of dry weather, especially in the south, although a fair amount of cloud too. Some rain in Scotland at times where it will be windy too on some days with a risk of gales.

Wednesday 1/2/23
A weak front front in western Ireland on Wednesday brings plenty of cloud to much of Ireland and western parts of the UK. Some rain and drizzle in places too, most in the far northwest of England, southwest Scotland and the northern half of Ireland. Cooler with showery rain in northeast Scotland. Drier in southern England, a few bright or sunny spells here, the best of them in East Anglia and the southeast. Highs at 5 to 9C.

Thursday 2/2/23
A chilly start to Thursday in Scotland but temperatures soon recover. Outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England. Some low cloud and drizzle affecting western coasts of Wales. Mostly dry elsewhere although always plenty of cloud. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Friday 3/2/23
A warm front in eastern areas gives some cloud here and a risk of some drizzle too. A ridge of higher pressure builds from the west bringing a fair amount of cloud but mostly dry weather. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Saturday 4/2/23
More cloud on Saturday bringing the risk of some patchy rain across the far northwest of Scotland. Dry for other areas, and the chance of some sunny spells in the east and south. Highs at 8 to 12C

Sunday 5/2/23
High pressure builds over the country on Sunday. Again this brings plenty of cloud, but also some mist and fog patches. Bright or sunny spells are likely to be developing during the day. Highs at 5 to 10C after an early frost for some.

Monday 6/2/23
High pressure remains on Monday. There could be some early fog patches and a touch of frost at first. Cloud, a brisk with and some rain in northwest Scotland. Highs around 7 to 10C.
