Temperatures rising, possibly very warm from mid-week, some rain northwest Scotland

Becoming very warm this week with temperatures perhaps reaching 30C. It is going to be dry in the south and east too. Some rain early on for northern and western Scotland, most of it light. Hints of cooler weather arriving with thundery rain from the north and west later.

Tuesday 14/6/22
A ridge of high pressure in the far south of Ireland, Wales and England on Tuesday. This brings a dry day with broken cloud and some good spells of sunshine. Cloud and some outbreaks of rain in western Scotland and western Ireland, most of it only light. Eastern Scotland is likely to be mainly dry although always lots of cloud here. Highs at 25C in southeast England, widely 22 to 24C but 12 to 15C in much of Scotland.

Wednesday 15/6/22
Pressure remains high through much of the country, centred in more southern areas. There will be sunny spells and it should be dry across much of England and Wales. Cloudier in Scotland and Ireland with some drizzle and low cloud in the west. Temperatures at 25C in southeast England, 22C in southern Ireland and 14C in western Scotland.

Thursday 16/6/22
High pressure east of the UK on Thursday. Cloud and some patchy rain for western Scotland although dry in other areas of the British Isles. Best of any sunshine in the south and east with more cloud to the north and west. Highs at 28C in southern England, 23 to 25C for many, 14C in northwest Scotland.

Friday 17/6/22
High pressure remains east of the country on Friday. A fair day with sunny spells for many. Thundery showers may affect southern and southwest England later. Cloud and rain in the far north of Scotland. Highs at 22 to 29C.

Saturday 18/6/22
With lower pressure passing to the north of Scotland it may be that conditions become cooler in the west as the wind becomes more north to northwesterly. There is a risk of some thundery rain rain in the north and west, but very little in the east and south where it stays very warm. Highs at 30C in southeast England, 12C in northwest Scotland.

Sunday 19/6/22
Sunday may become wetter as thundery rain edges slowly east, introducing the cooler air to all but the far southeast, Brighter in the north and west with some showers in western Scotland. Highs at 26C in the southeast, 14 to 21C elsewhere.
