Mixed
Warming up again

Issued: 0900 Saturday 18th June 2022
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Mixed weather turning unsettled the following weekend. Warming up at times though not as hot as of late.

A drop in temperatures for most today, though some far southern English counties hang on to that heat. Next week could see warmer conditions return on some days, though not the high heat of late. A mixed week though much dry weather before lower pressure looks to dominate the following weekend.

Tuesday 21/6/22
Outbreaks of rain push southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland first thing on Tuesday, before fizzling out through the morning. Some patchy rain will affect western parts of Ireland for a time too. A few showers pushing up from France could reach southern English counties, these could be heavy and thundery. Elsewhere largely dry with sunny spells though a few developing showers cannot be ruled out. Highs at 17 to 24C.

Wednesday 22/6/22
Wednesday is a largely dry, fine and warm feeling day for many thanks to ridging high pressure from the Atlantic, though the far north of Scotland could see some showery rain and it will be windy here. Highs at 18 to 25C for most, cooler through north and west Scotland.

Thursday 23/6/22
Mostly dry weather on Thursday with sunny spells about, though some showers could develop across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland later. Lower pressure over France will also see some heavier showers, perhaps thundery, push north and affect far southern English counties. A potentially rather warm day across much of England and Wales with highs here at 21 to 26C. Highs at 17 to 21C elsewhere.

Friday 24/6/22
Thundery, heavy showers in the south could become more widespread on Friday but do expect sunshine in between and not everywhere will get wet. Where showers develop watch for conditions to become briefly blustery. Highs at 18 to 25C.

Saturday 25/6/22
Low pressure looks to sit over the country on Saturday. This will bring showers and or longer spells of rain to many places. Winds look like they could become strengthened across some southern English counties too. Highs at 16 to 22C.

Sunday 26/6/22
Low pressure stays dominant over the country on Sunday and continues to bring unsettled conditions to many. Strengthened winds and blustery showers, some merging into longer spells of rain through much of England, Wales and Ireland with more persistent spells of rain across Scotland. Highs at 14 to 19C.
