Mixed this week with showers, most in the west, then drier next week

A mixed few days ahead with low pressure bringing showers or longer spells of rain. Turning drier into the weekend and next as a ridge of high pressure builds.

Thursday 30/6/22
Low pressure drifts towards Scotland on Thursday. Another mixed day is expected with showers and longer spells of rain for most. The highest risk of the more persistent rain is through Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Local flooding is possible from heavier downpours and there will be some thunderstorms too. Fewest showers are likely to be in eastern parts of England. Highs at 22C in eastern England, 16 to 18C in the west.

Friday 1/7/22
Low pressure north of Scotland on Friday. A day of sunny spells and scattered showers. Most of the showers will be in Scotland where some of them could be heavy. Dry in southern areas, the best sunny spells here. Staying dry in the east too with further sunshine. Highs at 16C in northern and western areas, 23C in the southeast.

Saturday 2/7/22
Showers, some of them heavy will be be affecting Scotland and the west of England and Wales. Ireland will have sunny spells and scattered showers. Drier across eastern and southern parts of the country. Highs at 24C in southeast England, 17C in Ireland and 14C in northwest Scotland.

Sunday 3/7/22
A fair day with sunny spells as a ridge of high pressure builds over the country. Best of the sunshine to the south. A few showers in Scotland and northern England as well as Northern Ireland. Tops at 26C in the southeast, 22C in Ireland, 16C in northern Scotland.

Monday 4/7/22
A weak front slips slowly southwards on Monday bringing some cloud across northern England and southern Scotland, perhaps with a spot of rain too. Drier and brighter to the north and south, just an occasional shower on coasts. Highs at 14C in northern Scotland, 27C in southern England.

Tuesday 5/7/22
Dry with sunny spells as a ridge of high pressure is maintained across the country. Cloud will be well broken throughout the day. Highs at 16 to 23C.
