Heat cools off into next week across the south with thundery rain at the weekend. Then sunshine and showers

The current hot weather further south and has a few days longer to last before cooling off. Eslewhere, conditions look to cool off comparatively so from this weekend. Thundery showers across southern and central area this weekend while frontal rain affects the northwest. Elsewhere largely dry with sunny spells.

Sunday 19/6/22
An area of low pressure over the Biscay on Sunday will push some thundery showery rain across many central and southern English counties as well as some Welsh counties. Staying potentially hot and dry across the far south and southeast of England. Brighter, drier and fresher further north with sunny spells. Highs widely at 16 to 20C, though cooler across northern Scotland with highs here at 15C and 31C through SE England.


Monday 20/6/22
A ridge of high pressure brings a dry day over England and Wales with sunny spells, the best in the east and south. Meanwhile, a weak front will bring more cloud as well as some patchy rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 23C in southern England, 15C in western Scotland.

Tuesday 21/6/22
Low pressure circulates to the north of Scotland on Tuesday seeing some outbreaks of rain across western Scotland, breezy here too, drier further east. Elsewhere, expect sunny spells and mostly dry conditions but a few scattered showers cannot be ruled out, mainly over the western coasts and hills. Highs mostly between 17 and 21C though warmer still across SE England. Wednesday 22/6/22
With low pressure still to the north of Scotland it will be breezy here while a weakening cold front pushes down the country with cloud and some patchy lighter rain on it, though more persistent rain is expected across parts of Scotland for a time. Otherwise expect sunny spells and mainly dry weather. Highs at a cooler 14 to 20C.

Thursday 23/6/22
Mostly dry weather on Thursday with sunny spells about, though a scattering of showers across western areas. The risk of more persistent rainfall across northern Scotland where it will continue to be breezy. Highs at 13 to 17C.

Friday 24/6/22
Friday could see more persistent rainfall push across much of the country as an Atlantic area of low pressure moves in. Eastern areas staying driest for longest. Highs at 14 to 19C.
