Morning Call - April 25, 2019
Rain for most
Thundery showers possible

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 25th April 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

There will be a fair amount of rain about today with some thundery showers in the mix

Good morning,

It will be a rather wet and windy start to the day for southeastern Ireland and the southwest UK as an area of low pressure is centred to the west of the Bristol Channel. This will bring heavy bursts of rain to eastern and southern Ireland, the West Country and Wales through the morning. A separate area of very heavy rain will affect the southeast and the East Midlands through the morning.

This second area of rain will bring heavy, sometimes thundery, bursts of rain as it moves into northern England through the late morning, edging into southern Scotland by the early afternoon. Behind this, to the south over Ireland, England and Wales, will be a mixture of scattered heavy, sometimes thundery, showers and some good sunny spells. High temperatures reaching just 10 to 11C in the southwest and along eastern coasts, more widely at 12 to 16C.

Heavy rain will continue to push northward across Scotland through the afternoon and early evening while showers will start to ease for much of England and Wales. A further band of heavy rain could start edging into western parts of Wales through the evening however.

Have a good day!
Claire
