A mostly dry and fair day across the UK and Ireland: some showers in the south, best of the sun in the east

Good morning,

A cool and rather cloudy start to the day for most across the UK and Ireland. Some showers may still be lingering over the island of Ireland and western parts of Scotland first things but these should ease as the morning progresses. Through the morning cloud should break, particularly for northern and eastern areas to give some good spells of sunshine.

Through the afternoon some showers may develop over the Home Counties, spreading into the Midlands and northern Wales. The best of the sunshine will be over eastern areas where it will feel rather pleasant in the sun. High temperatures reaching 11 or 12C over eastern Scotland, more widely we'll see highs of 14 to 18C.

Showers will ease through the early part of the evening leaving a dry but rather overcast end to the day across most of the country. Clearer skies will persist through the evening in the east.

Have a good day!
Claire
