Morning Call - April 26, 2019
Wet
Gales in the southwest

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 26th April 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A deep area of low pressure will bring wet and very windy conditions to Ireland, Wales and the southwest later today

Good morning,

It will be a rather dull start to the day for western parts of the UK and Ireland with some heavy bursts of rain over western Scotland and spreading eastward across Wales. Showers across the island of Ireland and through central and southern parts of England too first thing. Drier and brighter in the east and northeast.

Through the morning several bands of heavy rain will push eastward across the British Isles reaching most areas with the exception of northeastern England and eastern Scotland where it should remain dry and bright.

As the afternoon progresses a deep area of low pressure edges into western Ireland bringing gales to southwestern parts of Ireland. It will be a very wet afternoon across the island. Further heavy rain will affect Wales and southwestern Scotland while across England rain will ease to scattered showers. High temperatures at 13 to 16C in the east, just 9 to 12C in the west.

Through the evening some very heavy bursts of rain will continue over western Ireland, Wales and western Scotland while gales will edge further eastward affecting southern Ireland, the southern Irish Sea and around the southwest of England. Gusts may reach as high as 70mph through the Bristol Channel.

Keep an eye on the forecast if you're in Ireland or the southwest today!
Claire
