Broken cloud and mostly dry start, windier next week, then colder for a short time

Changing weather in the days ahead. Starting quiet with mist and fog patches for some but then turning cooler over the weekend. Next week may start cold and windy with the risk of some snow in the north. Probably turning milder again by the end of the week.

Saturday 25/1/20
High-pressure will be slipping away to the south-east on Saturday. As it does so the price will increase in the west bringing outbreaks of rain and drizzle too much of western Scotland, western Wales and parts of Southwest England. Increasing cloud over Ireland with heavy rain in the west later. Tending to stay dry in the east with some bright spells. A mild day in the west at 9°C but feeling cooler in the wind in the east at 7°C.


Sunday 26/1/20
Low pressure north of Scotland brings rain through Ireland with a risk of snow in western Scotland. Tending to be drier further south but there will be some cloud and outbreaks of rain on hills. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland, 9C in southern England.

 
 
 


Monday 27/1/20
Low-pressure north of Scotland on Monday pushes France eastwards and allows for heavy rain across much of western and southern Scotland, western England, Wales and Ireland. Severe gales may affect match of England and Wales with gusts of over 60 mph. Wintry showers in northern and western Scotland, some of them are heavy. Cold in Scotland and Ireland but milder for England and Wales. Highs at 2°C in northern Scotland, 14°C in southern England.


Tuesday 28/1/20
A colder day for all on Tuesday with low pressure north of Scotland. There will be a mix of showers, these falling as snow in Scotland, northern England, Wales and the north and west of Ireland. More persistent snow may affect western Scotland. Feeling cold in the wind. Highs at 3 to 6°C.


Wednesday 29/1/20
Further snow overnight over northern and western Scotland as well as the hills of Northwest England. These are likely to fade through the day on Wednesday although always a risk of some showers over western coast. Tending to be dry and bright in the east and south. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Thursday 30/1/20
Milder but more unsettled weather is expected to return on Thursday with rain, some of it heavy in venue areas, probably mostly in the west. A windy day with highs of 4 to 9°C.
