Turning more settled with an increased chance of fog and frost

Wet and windy weather again for Thursday, but by Friday conditions will turn showery and cooler. Conditions then become quieter into the weekend and next week as higher pressure builds. This brings an increasing risk of overnight frost and fog, which may be slow to clear by day.

Saturday 18/1/20
A ridge of high-pressure builds through Saturday. There will be frost for many areas at first and much of the day should be dry with good spells of sunshine. Further showers in northern and western Scotland falling as snow on the hills. Remaining breezy in northern Scotland but with lighter winds further south and the best of any sunshine in eastern and southern areas. A chilly day with tops of 4 to 7C.

Sunday 19/1/20
High pressure on Sunday brings a risk of morning mist and fog, especially in England, Wales and southern Ireland. This lifts to leave dry conditions and sunny spells for all. Increased cloud in western Scotland. Highs at 5 to 8C.

 
 
 

Monday 20/1/20
High pressure remains on Monday. More dry weather but with a further risk of misty conditions as well as morning fog patches. Drizzle may affect western Scotland. Where mist and fog lifts there should be bright or sunny spells. Highs at 4 to 8C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 21/1/20
High pressure remains on Tuesday. This brings the risk of some further mist and fog, perhaps slow to clear some areas through the day. Sunny where the fog does clear. Highs at a cooler 3 to 7C.

Wednesday 22/1/20
The pressure remains high through Wednesday. This brings a further risk of mist and fog patches, perhaps most tending to be further north. A risk of some drizzle in the far northwest of Scotland. Bright and dry where the mist and fog clears. Highs near 4 to 7C.

Thursday 23/1/20
Little change on Thursday as high pressure brings more fair weather. There will be some spells of sunshine after morning mist and fog patches clear England, Wales and Ireland. Breezier in northern Scotland with some drizzle in the far northwest. Tops at 4 to 7C.
