High pressure will influence the country through the week ahead, maintaining a quiet weather regime. Weak fronts toppling in from the Atlantic bring an increase of cloud and a little rain in the northwest. Many places largely dry.

Wednesday 22/01/20 High pressure stays in charge during midweek, keeping things dry across much of the British Isles. Some frost and fog. Variable cloud and sun. A westerly breeze brings some rain to northwest Scotland. Highs 4 to 9C.
Thursday 23/01/20 Little overall change, with ongoing settled weather. Rain and drizzle for western Scotland. Fairly cloudy skies for many. Some sun in the south and east. Local fog patches. Highs 5 to 10C.
Friday 24/01/20 Pressure stays high in the south, maintaining dry weather. A little rain in western Scotland, with a westerly breeze for the northern half of Britain. Highs 5 to 10C, mildest northeastern areas.
Saturday 25/01/20 Staying dry in the south. Breezy in the north with some rain for north and western Scotland. High 6 to 9C.
Sunday 26/01/20 Breezier overall and fairly cloudy, with drizzly rain for western Scotland and Ireland. Mostly dry again elsewhere. Temperatures 6 to 9C.
