Broken cloud and mostly dry start, windier next week, then colder for a short time
Changing weather in the days ahead. Starting quiet with mist and fog patches for some but then turning cooler over the weekend. Next week may start cold and windy with the risk of some snow in the north. Probably turning milder again by the end of the week.

Sunday 26/01/20 Low pressure north of Scotland sends a cold front eastward across the UK and Ireland through Sunday morning bringing rain to most areas with a risk of snow in western Scotland. Tending to be drier further southeast but rain will arrive here through the early afternoon, wuickly passing through. Sunny spells and showers follow to the west behind this, falling as snow over higher ground. Highs at 4°C in northern Scotland, 10°C in southern England.
Monday 27/01/20 A deep area of low pressure looks set to arrive from the southwest on Monday bringing very heavy outbreaks of rain (snow over higher ground) to much of Ireland and the UK. Severe gales may affect much of England, Ireland and Wales with gusts of over 60 mph. Cold in Scotland and Ireland but milder for England and Wales. Highs at 4°C in northern Scotland, 11°C in southern England.
Tuesday 28/01/20 A colder day for all on Tuesday with low pressure north of Scotland. There will be a mix of showers, these falling as snow in Scotland, northern England, Wales and the north and west of Ireland. More persistent snow may affect western Scotland. Feeling cold in the wind with highs at just 2 to 7°C.
Wednesday 29/01/20 Further snow overnight over northern and western Scotland as well as the hills of northwest England. These are likely to fade through the day on Wednesday although always a risk of some showers over western coasts. Tending to be dry and bright in the east and south. Highs at 3 to 7°C.
Thursday 30/01/20 Milder but more unsettled weather is expected to return on Thursday with outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, affecting most areas. This will turn to snow over the mountains of Scotland. A windy day with highs of 2°C in northern Scotland to 7 to 11°C everywhere else.
Friday 31/01/20 Friday may see low pressure to the south of the British Isles bringing outbreaks of rain to southern parts of Ireland, England and Wales. Drier and brighter to the north with highs ranging from 4°C in northern Scotland to 12°C in southern England.
