Breezy and mostly mild, most rain in northwest Scotland but drier in the east

A breezy few days ahead with higher pressure to the south and low pressure to the north. A brisk southwest wind for much of the week bringing widespread outbreaks of rain. Mild on most days, cooler to the north at times.

Wednesday 08/01/20
Some rain affecting southern and central England and south Wales on Wednesday. Northern England, Ireland and much of Northern Ireland should be dry and bright too. Rain, sleet and snow in northern and western Scotland. Breezy here too. High temperatures at 4 to 11C, mildest in southeast England.

Thursday 09/01/20
Low pressure arrives from the southwest bringing outbreaks of rain and strong winds. Rain affects much of England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Some showery rain reaching southern parts of Scotland. Drier to the north. A breezy day for all. High temperatures ranging from 4 to 12C.
 

Friday 10/01/20
High pressure to the southwest on Friday. This should bring a fair and mostly dry day with sunny spells for most after early rain over eastern England clears to the southeast. Cloud building and winds strengthening from the west with rain reaching the far northwest later. Highs at 4 to 9C.
 

Saturday 11/01/20
Low pressure to the northwest sends a cold front southeastward across the British Isles on Saturday bringing outbreaks of rain to most areas by evening. Brighter and cooler behind this to the west with frequent showers. Highs at 6 to 11C.

Sunday 12/01/20
Sunday continues cooler with a strong westerly flow. Further outbreaks of rain for southern parts of the UK and Ireland. Showers to the north which turn to sleet and snow over higher ground. Highs at 3 to 8C.

Monday 13/01/20
Monday starts showery and breezy but winds strengthen further and heavy outbreaks of rain arrive from the west affecting much of the country by evening. Highs at 5 to 9C.
