Holiday Monday
High pressure to the southwest and low pressure to the northeast keeps the UK into a chilly northerly airflow on Monday. The day will start cool with a touch of frost for many. There will be good spells of sunshine and scattered showers for Scotland, while a weak front could bring more persistent spells of light rain to Northern Ireland, Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia. Southwestern parts of Ireland and England should stay mostly dry with a mixture of high cloud and some sunny spells. Cloud will build over southwestern areas later. Highs widely at 8 to 11C again, though 13 or 14C is possible in southeast England and western Ireland.

Monday Night
Cloud will continue to build from the southwest through Monday night bringing further showers to parts of England. Clearer skies over Scotland but a chance of a few wintry showers over higher ground here. Overnight lows falling to -1 to 1C under clearer skies in Northern Ireland and Scotland, 2 to 5C is more typical elsewhere.
 

Tuesday
Tuesday will be a mixed day of cloudy skies, sunny spells and showers, some of which may be rather wintry in the north, with low pressure to the northeast and southwest. Showers may merge to give longer spells of rain over Ireland and northern and central parts of England. Wintry showers are likely to be confined to higher ground in Scotland. The best of the brightness in the northeast, becoming cloudier through the day in the southwest. Highs again widely reaching 7 to 11C, 12 to 14C possible for western Ireland, the West Midlands and across southern England.

Wednesday
An area of low pressure will track from west to east just to the south of the UK on Wednesday bringing strong winds and rain to Ireland, England and Wales through the day. Drier and brighter in the north of Scotland with the chance of a wintry shower; rain moving into eastern areas later though. Showers affecting Ireland through the afternoon too. Highs widely at 7 to 11C, though 13 to 15C is possible in southern parts of Ireland and England.
