Low pressure returning mid-week bringing spells of rain and high winds

Low pressure is expected to return to the UK and Ireland by mid-week bringing a more unsettled spell of weather our way. A mixture of cloudy skies, sunny spells and scattered showers with fresh winds and some longer spells of rain at times. Early indications are that high pressure will build once more over next weekend.

An area of low pressure will track from west to east just to the south of the UK on Wednesday bringing strong winds and rain to Ireland, England and Wales through the day. Drier and brighter in the north of Scotland with the chance of a wintry shower; rain moving into eastern areas later though. Showers affecting Ireland through the afternoon too. Highs widely at 7 to 11C, though 13 to 15C is possible in southern parts of Ireland and England.

More persistent rain affecting the northern half of the UK and eastern parts of England. Some good sunny spells developing later across England, Ireland and Wales. High temperatures at 8 to 11C in the north and west, 12 to 14C in the southeast.
