Stubborn low cloud western coasts and hills

Good morning,

High pressure over western Europe promotes a warm southerly airflow across the British Isles for the next few days, drawing air in from north Africa and the Canaries.

Fronts lie to the west of Ireland today. Some murk and drizzle around Irish Sea coasts, and low cloud may persist across hills in southwest Scotland and the Lake District. Strongest winds in the west of Britain and for Ireland.

Largely dry with warm sunshine breaking through for central, south and eastern regions of Britain. Northern Scotland also sees good cloud breaks and locally very warm temperatures near the Moray Firth thanks to a foehn effct over the Highlands.

Today's top temperatures reaching 12 to 15C, warmest in eastern areas, and locally topping 17C in shelter to the lee of high ground in northeast Wales and northern Scotland.
