Morning Call - February 05, 2019
Foggy & frosty to start
Turning wet and windy

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 5th February 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

It will be a frosty, foggy start to the day for many areas before a band of thick cloud and rain move in from the southwest through the day. Windy in the north.

Good morning,

It will be a clear and dry start to the day for northeastern areas, cloudy in the southwest with some rain edging into southwestern parts of Ireland through the early hours. Frost will be a concern for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and northern England first thing while southern and central parts of England could see some dense patches of fog which have developed overnight.

Cloud and rain will build from the southwest through the morning and afternoon covering Ireland, Wales, western Scotland and southwestern England by lunchtime. Devon and Dorset are likely to see the heaviest bursts of rain through the morning. A strong breeze will affect the northern half of the country through the day and gusts could reach gale force over higher ground and more exposed areas. High temperatures will range from 5C in Scotland to 12C in England and Ireland.

Cloud and rain will continue to push to the northeast through the afternoon and into the evening reaching most areas by nightfall. East Anglia and the far northeast of Scotland could remain dry.

Have a great day!
Claire
