High pressure overnight will allow temperatures to drop giving a cold start to the day. Cloud, rain and wind will move in from the west through the day as a frontal system moves in from the Atlantic.

Good morning,

A ridge of high pressure over the eastern half of the country will bring a cold start to the day. Mostly clear skies over England, Scotland and Wales will have allowed temperatures to drop close to freezing overnight and for a touch of groundfrost to develop in some more rural locations. There is also a risk of mist and fog patches first thing in southeastern areas. A cloudy, wet and windy start further west for the island of Ireland as a low pressure system edges in from the Atlantic.

Through the morning and into the afternoon this frontal system will continue to ease eastward bringing gusty winds and rain to the western half of Scotland, northwest England and northern and western parts of Wales through the afternoon. Elsewhere it should stay dry but skies will be rather overcast. High temperatures will reach 7 to 10C.

A cloudy evening will follow across the country and rain will continue to spread eastward. It will stay rather windy for western and northern areas. Staying dry in the south and southeast of England.
