Showers north and west

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 12th October 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Outbreaks of rain affect southern parts of the UK today while western coasts and hills see showers. Showers affecting the north coast of Scotland too but elsewhere it should stay dry with some spells of sunshine developing.

Good morning,

It's a wet start to the weekend for western and southern parts of the country. A band of showery rain affecting southern and southeastern parts of England while showers affect western coasts and hills across the UK and Ireland. Some brighter spells across Ireland, southern Scotland and to the northeast of England.

Through the afternoon it stays rather cloudy for central and southern parts of England and Wales with further outbreaks of rain, some of them heavy to the southwest. Cloudy too for southeastern Ireland but dry here. Showers continue to affect western coasts and hills and the far north of Scotland where they may merge to give longer spells of rain. High temperatures at 10 to 15C for most.

Rain spreads further north through central England and Wales on Saturday evening while cloud builds ahead of this over much of Ireland, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showers continue for western areas into the evening.

Have a good day!
Claire
