Muggy with some thundery rain this morning, drier to the north and west and fresher too

Rather cloudy through this morning with some thundery outbreaks of rain through central and eastern areas of England. Most the the rain affecting East Anglia and southeast England. Rather misty in central and eastern areas. Drier with a fair amount of cloud in Scotland Wales and western England. Fresher and brighter in Ireland and western Scotland.

This afternoon should improve as the rain slips away into the North Sea. Brighter and fresher weather in the west of the UK will edge slowly east. Scattered showers in western Scotland and western Ireland but most areas will be dry.

Rather cloudy tonight with the threat of some thundery showers in the fair southeast. Scattered showers western Scotland, Elsewhere dry with some cloud in England and Wales, clearer skies western Wales, Ireland and northwest England.
