Wind, rain and mild weather although a risk of fog next week

An unsettled first half of the week. Low pressure will be bringing rain and showers as well as strong winds. Always mild to the south but cooler in Scotland with the risk of some sleet and snow on hills tops here.Indications of the weather becoming quieter into the middle of next week with the risk of fog and frost.

Saturday 1/12/18
An area of low pressure swings west to east through the UK and Ireland on Saturday. This takes periods of rain with it, some heavy and the risk of some gales in southern and eastern England. Heavy showers in Scotland, wintry on the hills. Drier and brighter weather follows from the west. Winds easing as the low clears to the east. Highs at 2 to 7C in Scotland, 9C in Ireland, 7 to 9C in northern England, 14C in southern England.


Sunday 2/12/18
Staying unsettled for Sunday with low pressure bringing rain across much of Ireland, England and Scotland. This probably clears to showers. Colder in Scotland with some sleet or snow over the mountains. Staying wet in Northern Ireland and much of the rest of Scotland through the afternoon. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 13 to 14C in southwest England.

 


Monday 3/12/18
Low pressure east of Scotland on Monday. This brings another day of rain and showers. Cooler air in Scotland with some wintry showers on hills here, these perhaps getting as far south as northern England. Tops at 4C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.
 


Tuesday 4/12/18
A ridge of high pressure brings a quieter day but the threat of some frost and fog. The fog may be slow to clear during the day although there could be rain into Ireland later. Highs at 3 to 9C.


Wednesday 5/12/18
An area of high pressure may affect the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. It may become misty and murky with fog patches. A frost affecting all areas. Highs at 2 to 9C, coldest where fog lingers.

Thursday 6/12/18
Fronts may bring strong winds and rain acros the UK and Ireland on Thursday. The heaviest of the rain in Scotland and Ireland as well as western coasts and hills. Gales in the north and west too. Highs at 8 to 15C.
