Increasingly breezy & cloudy

Issued: 0900 Wednesday 14th November 2018
Duty forecaster: Dr. Simon Keeling

After mild weather this week conditions become much cooler and breezy

Get set for temperatures to be falling later this weekend and into next week. It will be mild or very mild for the remainder of this week before temperatures then turn much colder into next week. The winds become easterly, cloud increases and there is a higher chance of drizzle and outbreaks of rain as the week progresses.

Saturday 17/11/18
High pressure remains to the east of the country on Saturday and will be controlling the weather for all. There may be some low cloud drifting onto eastern coasts and hills. For other areas the day is cooler, bright and breezy. The best sunshine in the west. Temperatures at 10 to 13C.

Sunday 18/11/18
Little change on Sunday with high pressure to the east of the UK and an easterly flow affecting all. There will be good spells of sunshine, in the west, but eastern areas may see more cloud. A breezy and cool day. Highs at 9 to 12C.

Monday 19/11/18
High pressure remains over Scandinavia on Monday. The brisk east to southeast wind affects all parts of the UK and Ireland. More cloud is likely than at the weekend and there may be some patchy rain and drizzle in the east. Feeling cold in the wind. Highs at 7 to 10C.

Tuesday 20/11/18
Higher pressure drifting north of the Uk on Tuesday. This allows an easterly flow to affect all. Rain and drizzle over much of central and eastern England, eastern Wales and eastern Scotland, most of it patchy. Drier to the west with the best of any sunshine here. Feeling cold. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Wednesday 21/11/18
The flow turns more east to northeasterly on Wednesday. High pressure to the north with low pressure to the south. Periods of drizzle and patchy rain in many areas, although sheltered western parts should be drier and brighter. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Thursday 22/11/18
Another cold day with the risk of some more persistent rain in England and Wales. Drier Scotland and Ireland as well as southwest England. The rain could be heavy in the east. Highs at 5 to 8C.
