Weak fronts bringing cloud and patchy rain to north and west, increasingly hot east and south

A mixed week overall as fronts bring some showery rain into northern and western areas. Tending to become hot across southern and eastern parts of the UK and perhaps thundery into the end of the wek and next weekend.

Tuesday 24/7/18
Weak cold fronts affecting most of southern and eastern Scotland, eastern Ireland, northern England and Wales on Tuesday. These bring some showery spots of rain which may become heavier and thundery into the afternoon. Brighter and drier in western Scotland and western Ireland as well as in east Anglia and southern England. Temperatures could get to 32C in southeast England and widely 24 to 28C ahead of the fronts. Cooler air arrives behind the fronts at 17 to 21C.


Wednesday 25/7/18
A slack pressure flow over the UK on Wednesday with weak fronts bringing some patchy cloud. Most areas will be dry with good spells of sunshine although some showers could form along eastern coasts. Cloud and brisker winds in western Ireland with the risk of some rain here and a front approaches. Highs at 29C in southeast England, 17C in western Ireland and western Scotland.


Thursday 26/7/18
Higher pressure east of the UK on Thursday with low pressure west of Ireland. This pushes fronts eastwards which may bring some cloud and outbreaks of light rain to Ireland and the west of the UK. Central and eastern parts are expected to stay dry with lots of sunshine. Highs at 30C in the southeast, 17C in northern Scotland, more widely 22 to 28C.
 


Friday 27/7/18
A weak front slips into northern England and Wales on Friday bringing some cloud and a few spots of rain. Scattered showers in western Scotland, otherwise dry.Fair for most of the rest of England and Wales with good sunny spells here. Highs potentially to 34C in eastern England, 17C in western Ireland.


Saturday 28/7/18
The threat of some thunderstorms in Eastern England early on Saturday as the remnants of a front clear east. Brighter, fresher weather in the west under a ridge of high pressure. Tops near 26C in southeast England, 18C in western Scotland and western Ireland.

Sunday 29/7/18
A fresher day on Sunday as a ridge of high pressure builds. This could allow for some showers in the east of England and First, but dry for most with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 19 to 26C.
