Wettest north-west; often dry south & east

A southwesterly pattern will dominate early in the new week, bringing fresh conditions and rain at times to northern and western areas. The south & east will be largely dry with brief passing showers. High pressure is expected to rebuild from the south later in the week, with many places becoming dry, and temperatures rising again.

Tuesday 31/07/18
Low pressure will be to the north-west of the British Isles, and fronts will move into Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Staying breezy in the west and north, with further showers, merging into longer periods of rain. Localised showers for central and southern Britain, but many places often staying dry with some sunshine. Warmest in the far south-east, up to 25C, but nearer 18 to 22C for most.

Wednesday 01/08/18
Variable cloud with occasional showery rain in the west and north. More organised rain may move into Ireland from the west through the day, and winds will strengthen again. Generally dry and bright toward the south and east of Britain. Breezy again for northern areas, lighter winds and sea breezes in the south. Highs 17 to 26C, warmest south-east.
 

Thursday 02/08/18
A southwesterly pattern continues, with a few clusters of showers or locally some organised rain for Scotland and perhaps north-west England & Wales, but many places may be dry all day. Lighter winds for many, but breezy west & north. Warming up, 24 to 28C south, but fresh in Scotland & Northern Ireland, 17 to 21C.
 

Friday 03/08/18
High pressure is expected to build from the south, bringing plenty of dry weather and sunshine. A scattering of showers likely across northern regions, but better than previous days for most. Highs 23 to 28C.

Saturday 04/08/18
High pressure should reside across Britain & Ireland. Most likely dry and sunny for most places, with warmest temperatures in the south. Chance of a few showers in the north-west. Highs 23 to 28C.

Sunday 05/08/18
Plenty of fair weather overall, with warm sunshine. Risk of fronts encroaching into the north-west to bring some cloud and patchy rain. Highs 23 to 28C, locally warmer in the south.
