Possible thunderstorms next week

Plenty of dry weather and sunshine this weekend, but by early next week there is a greater risk of thunderstorms developing from Biscay.

Friday 03/08/18
High pressure builds from the south, but weakening fronts will still influence Britain, especially northern areas. Plenty of dry weather, best sunshine toward the south-east, but some brighter spells elsewhere. Patchy rain for northern Britain and Ireland, and local showers possible, focused on north-eastern areas by afternoon. A fairly light westerly breeze. Highs 16 to 21C north & west, 23 to 27C central areas, and likely topping 30C in the south-east.

Saturday 04/08/18
High pressure reside across Britain & Ireland. Generally dry with good amounts of sun, but some variable cloud. A little rain or drizzle possible in western Scotland. Chance of very isolated showers elsewhere. An easterly breeze for the English Channel, otherwise winds very light. Temperature contrasts from north to south, 16 to 21C Scotland, Northern Ireland and north of England, but 26 to 31C central and southern regions.

Sunday 05/08/18
Plenty of fair weather overall, with warm sunshine. Risk of fronts encroaching in from the Atlantic to bring some cloud and patchy rain to west & northern Scotland. Isolated showers or a local thunderstorm may develop in central-southern areas by afternoon. Highs 19 to 26C, or nearer 30C in the south.

Monday 06/08/18

Tuesday 07/08/18
Very low confidence: Warm and humid, with possible thundery rain for some, but many places may well stay dry. Highs 19 to 30C.
