Morning Call - August 23, 2022
Very warm east
Cloudy, patchy rain west

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 23rd August 2022
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy north and west with some patchy rain, but dry and very warm in the east

A rather cloudy day ahead for many as fronts try to edge eastwards through the country. There will be some sunshine though, the best of it in eastern areas, and it is in these areas where we could see temperatures getting to 28C this afternoon. Always more cloud to the north and west.

These cloudier areas are likely to be having some spots of rain and drizzle, especially on the coasts and hills. A tendency for cloud to be thinning in Ireland and western Scotland later with some sunny spells developing here. At the same time thicker cloud may bring some more persistent drizzle to southwest Wales.

Overnight skies are cloudier. There are further outbreaks of rain in western areas of the UK, the risk too of some heavy and thundery rain developing in western Wales and western England during the early hours. Drier for Ireland and eastern Scotland, although scattered showers in western Scotland.
